Head Teacher (Toddler- 2nd Grade)

Akron Global School believes that childhood is not a preparation for life. It is life itself.

We are building, from the ground up, a school and a pedagogical team with a clear purpose: to offer children, from Toddlers through 2nd Grade, an educational experience that respects their time, their curiosity, and their capacity to construct knowledge through relationships, inquiry, and meaningful experiences.

We are seeking a Head Teacher to play a central role in the students' learning experience and development. This professional will be responsible for planning and facilitating meaningful learning experiences, monitoring each child's individual development, and working in partnership with the pedagogical team and families to create a safe, nurturing, stimulating, and child-centered learning environment.

• Plan, implement, and facilitate learning experiences aligned with the school's pedagogical approach and educational framework.

• Create a welcoming, safe, stimulating, and child-centered classroom environment.

• Monitor and document each student's development and learning, respecting their individual characteristics, interests, needs, and pace.

• Develop learning experiences grounded in inquiry, projects, play, and meaningful experiences.

• Apply knowledge of child development to inform planning and pedagogical practice.

• Continuously observe students and use these observations to plan interventions and new learning experiences.

• Establish a consistent, intentional, and age-appropriate classroom routine.

• Foster English language development throughout the school day and support learners to build their confidence to communicate and participate.

• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other members of the pedagogical team, fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and excellence.

• Implement Akron Mentorship Pogram.

• Maintain close and professional communication with families, sharing relevant information about students' development and learning.

• Participate in meetings, professional development, schoolevents, and other activities within the school community.

• Actively contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the school's pedagogical practices.

• A Bachelor's degree in Education/Pedagogy is required.

• Experience as a classroom teacher, preferably in Early Childhood and/or lower elementary education.

• Experience in international schools will be considered a strong advantage.

• Solid knowledge of child development and child-centered pedagogical practices.

• Hands-on experience with project-based learning, inquiry, play, and experiential learning will be considered a strong advantage.

• Familiarity with observation, documentation, and learning assessment processes.

• A strong understanding of Early Literacy and Phonics, as well as their practical application in the classroom, will be considered an advantage.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

• Fluency in English, C2 level.

• International professional or academic experience will be considered an advantage.
