Music Teacher (Toddler- 2nd Grade)

We are looking for a Music Teacher to design and facilitate musical experiences that foster children's curiosity, creativity, listening, and self-expression. In Early Childhood, music is a powerful language for exploring rhythm, movement, voice, sound, instruments, and relationships, contributing to children's holistic development and cultural repertoire.

More than teaching music through traditional content-based instruction, we are looking for a professional who can create meaningful, inquiry-driven experiences that are appropriate for each developmental stage and encourage children to explore and participate actively.

This position will be structured on an hourly teaching basis of 10 hours per week.

• Support the Head Teacher in managing the daily classroom routine and implementing learning experiences.

• Support students during activities, providing individual assistance whenever needed.

• Foster English language development throughout the school day and support learners to build their confidence to communicate and participate.

• Contribute to a safe, welcoming, organized, and stimulating learning environment.

• Assist with preparing, organizing, and maintaining learning materials and spaces.

• Support the monitoring of students' needs and development, sharing relevant observations with the Head Teacher.

• Encourage student participation, independence, and interaction throughout the different learning experiences.

• Collaborate in implementing learning experiences based on play, inquiry, projects, and meaningful experiences.

• Support transitions, mealtimes, hygiene routines, recreational activities, and other aspects of the daily routine, according to the students' age group.

• Work collaboratively with the Head Teacher and other members of the pedagogical team, contributing to a culture of collaboration and respect.

• Implement the Akron Mentorship Program

• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate music experiences that respond to students' development, interests, and individual needs.

• Foster English language development throughout the school day and support learners to build their confidence to communicate and participate

• Use music as a form of artistic and cultural expression, expanding students' musical repertoire and their exposure to different musical traditions and forms.

• Explore rhythm, melody, movement, voice, percussion, instruments, and different sound possibilities in meaningful and age-appropriate ways.

• Create experiences that foster listening, self-expression, creativity, imagination, and active participation.

• Use music as a tool to support child development, including language, motor coordination, auditory perception, memory, attention, social interaction, and emotional expression.

• Integrate music, movement, play, and exploration into students' learning experiences.

• Develop experiences that foster curiosity and inquiry, allowing children to experiment, create, and build their own relationship with music.

• Introduce children to diverse cultures, musical repertoires, and traditions, broadening their perspectives through different forms of expression.

• Contribute to a school culture that recognizes music as an essential part of children's

• development, self-expression, and identity formation.

• Participate in school events, performances, and other community activities when applicable.
